Spain’s David Villa Flogs Euro 2008 Shirt and Medal on eBay!

In Blog on June 30, 2010 at 8:21 am

This is quite an amazing eBay auction, not just because in the reflection of the mini-trophy, you can see that the vendor is completely naked. This week, David Villa’s Euro 2008 shirt appeared on eBay, with a quite remarkable bag of Euro 2008 booty, including the player’s gold medal. At £4,500 it’s a bit of a poke, but by golly, it’s an exciting auction.

No kitchen sink?

Put a shirt on, mate.

Amazing that Villa appeared on Jim'll Fix It too

In Blog on June 26, 2010 at 12:13 pm

It’s always a race to get the first match worn England shirt home from a World Cup. This year, the winner is ‘England Match Shirts’ who have paraded what looks like a Scott Parker England vs Japan shirt (and boots no less) on Facebook today.

Jermaine Defoe Scores With ‘Frankenboots’

In Blog on June 24, 2010 at 11:30 am

Spurs 1, Slovenia 0

Jubilant Jermaine Defoe smashed England into the group stages yesterday with a fine poacher’s goal against Slovenia, but close-ups of his match trotters in todays papers reveal he had some help from a pair of specially customised, Frankenstein-boots.

Weird boots

Jermaine-man’s AdiZeros were a cannibalised mixture of the injection moulded studs, with what looks like old fashioned metal studs. Crazy. But where can man get this done to his own boots? Well, www.copaconversions.co.uk have been doing this kind of caper to Adidas boots for a while, at great cost. Perhaps they’ll mess with your AdiZeros…for a price.

Klinsmann’s First Shirt As German Captain- Amazing Piece of Memorabilia

In Blog on June 14, 2010 at 1:05 pm

This little beauty is in a friend’s private collection, but I couldn’t resist taking a snap when I popped round this weekend. What you’re looking at is Jurgen Klinsmann’s first shirt worn as German captain in 1994, after taking over the armband from Lothar Matthäus. An armband which is superbly included. Enjoy.

(Oh, and in case you were wondering, it’ll be worth around £2,000-£3,000 going on recent auction prices)

Genius hipsters make their own replica shirts

In Blog on June 12, 2010 at 7:10 pm

I’m at a World Cup barbeque and this couple have stolen the show with their replica shirts. Two cotton tee shirts, some pens, and a lot of effort.

“this would have cost £130 as an original so I did my own using pens.”
Germany fan.

Geek Alert: New Umbro Teamwear Catalogue

In Blog on June 8, 2010 at 4:00 pm

Umbro have released their new teamwear catalogue for 2010/11. I remember when these Umbro ‘Pub Side’ shirts were poorly designed, polyester nipple torturers, and the sales catalogue just as painful. Today, the pamphlet is an object of beauty. Printed on newspaper stock paper like fanzine ‘Loud and Quiet’, and modelled by Michael Owen no less, the photography is nothing short of beautiful. Well done Umbro chaps.

Inside The Old Trafford Dressing Room

In Blog on June 6, 2010 at 7:33 pm

I’m just watching the Soccer Aid match on telly, and they’re playing it at Old Trafford. I just saw ‘Arry give his team talk in the dressing room, and it reminded me I’d taken these snaps of the place when I played myself at Old Trafford last month. Here are those photos…check out the iPod dock!
