A Quite Amazing Spurs Replica Collection

In Blog on November 6, 2010 at 6:09 pm

Scott Gilfeather has been in touch, after reading my book Lilywhite & Blue, with stories of an unrivaled Tottenham Hotspur shirt collection. Scott’s haul are all replica shirts, however I have yet to see a more complete collection of Spurs shirts outside the realms of the serious match-worn collectors. Mr Gilfeather, I doff my cap.

Loads of home shirts, some signed

Away. And looks like quite a serious CD collection there too. Any Simply Red?

More contemporary shirts

Is that an errant Pony shirt in there?

Have you got an amazing shirt collection? Drop me an email.

Get Your Adidas ‘Barbie’ Football Boots!

In Blog on October 14, 2010 at 7:33 pm

For breast cancer awareness month, Adidas are making custom pink-coloured F50s. It’s actually part of the exciting ‘customise your F.50s’ section on the Adidas website, where you can create your own boots. I’m massively into this. Because I like anything customised.
Here in America I’ve noticed loads of Sports teams wearing girly pink for this cancer charity, I just wonder how many Premiership footballers will be ‘sinking the pink’ in the name of charidee?

Check Out The Limited Edition Umbro England Shirt

Umbro Limited Edition England Home Shirt

Iconic designer Peter Saville has knocked up these special edition versions of the new England home kit, featuring the interesting rainbow-coloured crosses all over the fabric. Some smart arse blogger recently described the pattern as a ‘wizard’s sneeze’…and here it looks like Merlin’s got flu. Go on then, I’m interested…

“The pattern – a series of tiny St George’s Crosses in red, blue, green and purple – covers the entire shirt, creating a visually stunning motif that is guaranteed to make you stand out from the crowd,” says Umbro. Either way, the collecting fraternity will be feverishly bashing their credit card numbers into Umbro.com once again.

Umbro Limited Edition England Anthem Jacket

There’s a jacket too.

Both the limited home shirt and the limited edition Anthem will be on sale from October 12th. To see more pictures, take a look at Umbro’s Flickr stream, or take a look at Umbro.com. But you want my opinion? They should play in this limited edition shirt, just once, to hype up interest. It’s not often enough that shirts are used for one game only….what’s the harm?

It’s Star Wars United!…*Wets Pants*

In Blog on September 29, 2010 at 4:37 pm

Star Wars + Adidas Originals + football = my-goody-gosh. This bit of news has everything: Adidas are releasing authentic Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader football kits, and my God they’re brilliant. Seriously, what man born between 1977 to present day will NOT want one of these? I want both. Get me them now please.

Available to buy now from the Good Will Out who have just relieved me of 130 Euros of my hard earned cash. And thanks to whoateallthepies, the excellent blog who annoyingly found this first.

Books, Coming Soon!

No other club in the world has a football shirt history as colourful as Tottenham Hotspur. Lilywhite & Blue is a visual history of every glorious shirt design since the team was founded. For this unique limited edition book, memorabilia collectors have opened the doors to their private collections. Buy it here.

This insightful and often hilarious romp charts the dramatic ups and downs of Tottenham Hotspur, as seen through the eyes of one of its most unlikely heroes: Roy Reyland, the local kit man who served the club for almost thirty years. Buy it here.

Look, It’s Your Collection. I’m Not Judging You…

Different strokes for different strokes, right? Some collectors are only interested in Crystal Palace away kits, others collect John Barnes jock straps. But…Malta shirts? I’ve got to hand it to you ‘Kenneth John Formosa’ of Facebook. With your almost complete collection of home, away, and even what looks like five black goalkeeper jerseys, you must have the ultimate, if only, match worn Malta collection.

Props to you also, for this no doubt missus-slaying display cabinet at home. (Do Adidas even customise Predators for Malta players?)

Where do I get a mannequin with arms raised like it’s celebrating a particularly outrageous Malta away goal?

Overall, well done sir, on a fine collection. Imagine if they were all Manchester United kits.

And The Campest Football Shirt Of All Time Goes To…

America! Or should I say ‘soccer jersey’? This little sexpot of a football strip has appeared on eBay, claiming to be a USA national strip from the 1980s. I’m not sure. It looks like the cheerleader outfit. Regardless, I’m bidding on this bitch just to make myself feel better.

Inside The White Hart Lane Shirt Collection

In Blog on September 10, 2010 at 2:05 pm

Mud.Sweat.Badges strolled down to White Hart Lane today for a £14 tour around the famous stadium. Most ‘football tourists’ there were interested only in sitting in the dugout, or seeing the famous 11-man bath. But I was just interested to see what shirty treasures the ground holds. Oh, and I took photos.

Overall it was a great tour. The guides were pretty fun…they told a great story of a prank involving the Bill Nicholson bust, a two-way radio, and a Premiership star. I’d recommend it. Click here if you fancy it.

The New Spurs Catalogue, 2010/2011

In Blog on September 8, 2010 at 2:41 pm

You might recognise the boyish good looks and that winning smile and charisma, in the young model in the Tottenham Hotspur catalogue this year.

The ladies are mad for Bailey

He is of course, Bailey, 2… my nephew! This isn’t the first time Bailey has been in the Spurs catalogue, he’s an old hand at the old modelling. His agent, my sister Lauren, is keeping his feet firmly on the floor, but the lifelong Spurs fan says he’ll keep modelling, “as long at pays for my sweets.”

Blue steel.

Good lad, Bailey. I hope you get 20% royalties on those sweets.
