A Quite Amazing Spurs Replica Collection

In Blog on November 6, 2010 at 6:09 pm

Scott Gilfeather has been in touch, after reading my book Lilywhite & Blue, with stories of an unrivaled Tottenham Hotspur shirt collection. Scott’s haul are all replica shirts, however I have yet to see a more complete collection of Spurs shirts outside the realms of the serious match-worn collectors. Mr Gilfeather, I doff my cap.

Loads of home shirts, some signed

Away. And looks like quite a serious CD collection there too. Any Simply Red?

More contemporary shirts

Is that an errant Pony shirt in there?

Match Worn Teddy Sheringham Shirt, A Sneaky Glimpse

In Blog on July 2, 2010 at 12:11 pm

Another rare glimpse into my private collection today. This is the shirt worn by Spurs captain Teddy Sheringham against Manchester City on 18th April 2004, at White Hart Lane. The shirt came to me straight after the game, filthy dirty and so sweaty that it steamed up the plastic bag it came in. Just how they should! Oh, and the captain’s armband was still on the sleeve, inside out.

Spurs are selling on various bits of kit to support the Tottenham Tribute Trust. The prices are already out of control, but there are some tasty little items up for grabs including Lennon’s surprisingly religious Nike boots.

In the first of a new series of guest blogs, noted magazine journalist Charlie Parrish discusses teams who showcase next years kit early, and the fresh hope that a sneak peak at a new kit can give a club in showcase games.

“As a Spurs fan, Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final brought back some stirring memories. Obviously, the game’s painfully embarrassing conclusion won’t be entering my personal vault of great Wembley moments along with Gazza’s ’91 free kick.
But watching a pumped-up Pompey debuting their brand new Kappa shirts did trigger flashbacks of my favourite Tottenham – and football kit – moment.

18 May 1991 was my eighth birthday. It was also the 110th FA Cup final, pitting a Gazza-fuelled, bankrupt Tottenham against Read the rest of this entry »

Going, Going, and now GONE: My Football Shirt Collection

In Football on October 2, 2009 at 2:10 pm

I used to pick up shirts worn by players you see, and I got carried away. At one point I had about 200- mainly from my beloved Spurs. As you can probably guess I’m now considering selling the lot. Apart from Klinsmann’s debut shirt, I think, which is currently on display at the National Football Museum, Preston. Do read on…

Here are some Spurs match worn numbers: (click one to see a nice gallery)
